Today's all educational reletead news

The BJP/RSS cadre is holding booth-in-charge meetings at local temples as the entire Union Cabinet, followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, readies for the final push to Assembly elections in Gujarat.

The Congress seems invigorated in the State with a visible voter disenchantment over GST implementation and new caste calculations.
The Mehsana story
In Mehsana, a BJP fortress which defeated the Congress even in the face of the tidal wave following Indira Gandhi’s assassination in 1984, young voters are restless. The new leaders, especially Hardik Patel from the Kadva sub-caste of the powerful Patidar community, who represent the Congress’s attempts to stitch a new social coalition, have found some traction here.
“There is some division in our community. I will support the BJP but some of the young people may vote for the Congress. I think 10-12 per cent of us may go to the Congress,” said Gopalbhai Patel at the Ambaliyasan station here.
The Patidars, who are essentially a landowning, farming community which has successfully transitioned into various business ventures, were at the receiving end of police excesses following the launch of Hardik’s agitation for a quota in the OBC category. Against the Congress’s Khashtriya, Harijan, Adivasi and Muslim (KHAM) formula, the Patidars created and built the BJP’s base in Gujarat.
Even at its worst, in the 2014 general elections, the Congress still retained a vote share of 33.45 per cent. The difference between the two traditional rivals in the 2012 Assembly elections was 8.92 per cent, with the BJP securing 47.85 per cent of the vote share and 115 seats and the Congress geting 38.93 per cent vote and 61 seats. That they should even be discussing the Congress in the context of elections is worrisome for the BJP.
The caste calculations are sought to be reworked at a time when the State — with its mercantile DNA — has lost business and money in the process of GST rollout although the popular angst remains unquantifiable.
The BJP is conscious of the challenge but seems confident of not just countering it but getting a “record victory”.
“It is true that Rahul Gandhi has created confusion. It is also true that some people are angry with the GST rollout. But we are winning them back. And there is still time for polling. You mark my words, we will break Madhavsinh Solanki’s record and get over 150 seats in the Assembly,” a top BJP leader who did not wish to be named told BusinessLine.
What it means is that besides the razzle-dazzle of the PM, the Union Cabinet and other BJP leaders landing here next week for campaigning, party president Amit Shah has toured the State twice and examined the nuts and bolts of a booth-management system set up during the 2014 elections. Dinesh Patel of Chatral village, who is among the several prabharis (in-charge) of this booth in Mehsana, said a meeting of 170 panna pramukhs (persons in charge of voters’ lists) was held at a temple nearby. “What each of us does is to be in touch with 40-50 voters for one hour every day. We facilitate voting. We are helping democracy. In Gujarat, the BJP will be back. Gujarat will never betray Narendra Modi,” Patel said.
The sense of the contest on the ground is that it is keen and the Congress, unlike previous elections, has managed to put up a show that has aroused interest enough for the BJP to be extra cautious.

Today's all elacation reletead news

Launching a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi over his visits to temples in poll-bound Gujarat, senior BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao today accused him of following in the footsteps of medieval sultans like Alauddin Khalji and Aurangzeb.

"Aurangzeb (a Mughal emperor) had destroyed many temples during his rule. However, when the common people opposed him, he promised to build two-three temples. Alauddin Khalji did the same...And now Rahul Gandhi is going in the same direction," Rao said.
During his campaign trail, Gandhi visited a string of temples in Gujarat, including the famous Akshardham shrine.
The BJP has accused him of playing the soft Hindutva card in a bid to attract the majority community.
Talking to reporters, Rao termed as "good" the proposal of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board on resolving the Ayodhya issue and asked Gandhi to clarify the party's stand by breaking his "silence".
He also asked the Congress to explain how its viewed "invader" Mughal emperor Babur, who is believed to have constructed the mosque in Ayodhya in 16th Century.
"Gandhi's visits to temples is a drama. Gandhi is trying to mislead the people by embarking on temple visits, which has become a compulsion for the Congress vice president in view of the elections," the BJP leader said.
He said the Congress' "dream" of celebrating "Muhammad Ghazni Jayanti" in Gujarat would never become a reality as the party would never win the polls.
"The Congress is celebrating Tipu Sultan 'jayanti' in Karnataka, and is now dreaming of celebrating Muhammad Ghazni Jayanti in Gujarat," Rao said.
Ghazni had plundered the Somnath temple in Gujarat in 1024 AD.
"Tipu Sultan had converted many Hindus to Islam and included them in his army. Is Tipu Sultan the ideal of the Congress? As part of its vote bank politics, the Congress' top priority would be to celebrate the Ghazni jayanti if they are voted to power in Gujarat, which is not possible," Rao added.
Gandhi, who is battling allegations of displaying soft Hindutva in Gujarat, had last week clarified that he is a devotee of Lord Shiva.

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Saturday released its second list of 36 candidates for the next month’s Gujarat assembly polls.

According to sources, there were 19 new faces while seven sitting MLAs were dropped. Most candidates in the list were those who had lost in the last assembly elections.

There are 13 ST candidates and two SC candidates in the list.

Similar to first list, there was no mention of Muslim candidate in the second list as well.

The party has announced 106 candidates so far for elections to the 182-member Gujarat Assembly to be held in two phases on December 9 and 14.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday declared its first list of 70 candidates for the Gujarat Assembly polls with Chief Minister Vijay Rupani being nominated to contest from his traditional Rajkot West constituency and Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel will contest from Mehsana while state BJP chief Jitubhai Vaghani will contest from Bhavnagar West.

Government of gujarat elacation reletead news for today

Bhandari, 70, and Greenwood are seeking re-election at the Hague-based International Court of Justice.

One-third of the court's 15-member bench are elected every three years for a nine-year term, elections for which are held separately but simultaneously in the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council in New York.

Last Thursday, four of the six candidates in the fray were elected as per the UN laws, got absolute majority in both the General Assembly and the Security Council.

Ronny Abraham of France, Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf of Somalia, Antonio Augusto Cancado Trindade of Brazil and Nawaf Salam of Lebanon were elected after four rounds of elections on Thursday.

Yesterday, the UN General Assembly and the Security Council met separately to elect the remaining one candidate for the ICJ.

In each of the five rounds of elections, Greenwood of Britain received nine votes and Bhandari got five in the UN Security Council. The winner must secure 8 votes in the Security Council.

Given that Britain is a Permanent member of the Security Council, Greenwood has an advantage over Bhandari.

Bhandari received absolute majority in the General Assembly elections in all the five rounds. In fact, he increased his vote tally from Thursday's 115 to 121 votes in the General Assembly elections yesterday against the absolute majority number of 97.

The vote tally of Greenwood dropped from 76 to 68 on Monday.

Both the General Assembly and Security Council announced to adjourn the meeting for the election to be convened at a later date.

Ahead of the yesterday's voting, Congress leader and former top UN official Shashi Tharoor said that the "voice of the General Assembly" has been ignored for too long.

He accused the "UK of trying to stall the will of the majority of the UN General Assembly".

"As the UN Security Council (SC) & General Assembly (GA) vote to choose a judge for the International Court Of Justice (#ICJ) between Indian & UK candidates, the legitimacy & effectiveness of the UN are at stake. The voice of the GA has been ignored too long," he said in a tweet.

"This time a nominee of a Permanent member of the SC has failed to get an absolute majority of the GA, for the first time in a direct contest to a major @UN organ. GA vote has turned into a protest against an unwarranted extension of privilege for 70+ years. P5 lost by 40votes!" he said.

Tharoor said the election is no longer about the judge or the country he hails from, but about the General Assembly standing up against a member of a privileged club who has lost comprehensively among the Members at large but still leads 9-6 in the Security Council.

"The UK is trying to stall the will of the majority of the GA," he charged.

PM Modi holds bilateral talks with Shinzo Abe, discusses ways to strengthen India-Japan strategic cooperation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held wide-ranging talks with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe with a focus on further ramping up the special strategic partnership between the two Asian giants.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the annual summit of the 10-nation ASEAN grouping which is being attended by a number of its dialogue partners including India, China, Japan, the US and Australia.

"Meeting a valued friend and a trusted partner. PM @narendramodi and PM @AbeShinzo held a wide ranging and engaging discussion on intensifying special strategic and global partnership between the two countries," external affairs ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted along with photographs of the meeting.

The Modi-Abe meeting came two days after officials of India, the US, Japan and Australia held their first meeting to give shape to the much talked about quadrilateral alliance to keep the Indo-Pacific region "free and open".

Japan's Foreign Minister Taro Kono last month had said that Tokyo favours the quadrilateral dialogue to further boost strategic partnership among the four countries.

The situation in the Indo-Pacific is understood to have figured in the talks between the two leaders apart from several other issues of mutual concern.

Modi also held a bilateral meeting with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei focus of which was expanding cooperation in areas of trade, investment and renewable energy.

"PM @narendramodi met with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam. Both leaders had fruitful discussions on expanding bilateral partnership, specially in trade and investment, renewable energy, culture and people to people contacts," Kumar tweeted.

Election related news for Gujarat

Priti Patel, Britain’s first Indian-origin Cabinet Minister resigned as International Development Secretary on Wednesday evening, as the political crisis engulfing the British government intensified. Hers was the second Cabinet resignation within a week - Defence Secretary Michael Fallon resigned over sexual harassment allegations last Wednesday.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson is also facing calls for his resignation over incorrect comments made to a parliamentary select committee over a British-Iranian citizen imprisoned in Iran.

Intense day at Westminster
Ms. Patel’s resignation came after an intense day at Westminster amid further revelations about Ms. Patel’s dealings with senior Israeli politicians and a visit to Israel during a “family holiday” over the summer.

Accusations and counter allegations about the extent to which Downing Street knew of her visit and subsequent policy proposals also ensued.

Ms. Patel, who was on an official trip to Africa, cut short her visit to return to meet the Prime Minister on Wednesday evening, with her resignation announced shortly after a brief meeting in Downing Street. In her resignation to the Prime Minister, Ms. Patel apologised for the “distraction” the reports on her activities had created from the government's operation. “While my actions were meant with the best of intentions, my actions also fell below the standards of transparency and openness that I have promoted and advanced,” she wrote.

May endorses resignation
Writing in response, Prime Minister Theresa May said it was “right” that she had decided to resign and “adhere to the high standards of transparency and openness that you have advocated.”

On Monday, Ms. Patel publicly apologised for failing to disclose 12 meetings with senior Israeli politicians, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during a “family holiday” to Israel in August.

After initially suggesting that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Mr. Johnson had been in the loop from the outset, she admitted they were made aware of the meetings while the trip was under way. While Downing Street initially stood by her, subsequent revelations have made her position increasingly tenuous.

On Wednesday, The Guardian reported that sources within her department confirmed further meetings with Israeli officials in September that were also not carried out according to ministerial procedures, including a meeting with Gilad Erdan, Israel’s Minister for Public Security on the House of Commons' terrace in early September. She also met a foreign ministry official in New York later that month.

Reports in Jewish Chronicle, a London-based Jewish weekly newspaper, however, suggested that Ms Patel had disclosed these to Downing Street but was advised not to reveal details of them as they could embarrass the British Foreign Office: something Downing Street has strenuously denied.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz also reported on Wednesday that Ms. Patel visited the Golan Heights during her visit. This would go against long-standing British foreign policy that has treated the region as illegally occupied Syrian land, and not Israeli territory

Elacation reletead news

The Mediterranean black truffle - one of the most expensive delicacies in the world, worth as much as 1,700 pounds per kilogramme - has been successfully cultivated in the UK, as climate change threatens its native habitat, scientists said today.

Researchers from the University of Cambridge in the UK and Mycorrhizal Systems Ltd (MSL) confirmed that a black truffle has been cultivated in the UK for the first time: the farthest north that the species has ever been found.

It was grown as part of a programme in Monmouthshire, South Wales, run by MSL in collaboration with local farmers.

The results of the programme, reported in the journal Climate Research, suggest that truffle cultivation may be possible in many parts of the UK.

After nine years of waiting, the truffle was unearthed in March 2017 by a trained dog named Bella.

The aromatic fungus was growing within the root system of a Mediterranean oak tree that had been treated to encourage truffle production.

Further microscopic and genetic analysis confirmed that Bella's find was indeed a Perigord black truffle, researchers said.

"It is a risky investment for farmers - even though humans have been eating truffles for centuries, we know remarkably little about how they grow and how they interact with their host trees," said Professor Ulf Buntgen of Cambridge's Department of Geography.

"Since the system is underground, we can't see how truffles are affected by different environmental conditions, or even when the best time to water them is. There is been no science behind it until now, so progress is slow," said Buntgen.

The black truffle is one of the most expensive delicacies in the world, worth as much as 1,700 pounds per kilogramme, researchers said.

Black truffles are prized for their intense flavour and aroma, but they are difficult and time-consuming to grow and harvest, and are normally confined to regions with a Mediterranean climate.

In addition, their Mediterranean habitat has been affected by drought due to long-term climate change, and yields are falling while the global demand continues to rise.

Today's all educational news date 06 /11/2017

Visakhapatnam: For understandable reasons, people look down upon government schools. What if there is an exception among government educational institutions; and that too, a high school that outclasses comparable private institutions in many respects?

The Chandrampalem Zilla Parishad High School is one government institution that is fully equipped to offer well-rounded education, thanks to the total commitment of its authorities and the government. The school has been registering excellent results in education as well as sports and extracurricular activities.

Since 2010, the school has been giving admission to at least 400 new students annually and presently it has a strength of 3,316 students --- the highest among government high schools in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State. Apart from education, the school has been nurturing promising students with the aim of making them sports personalities and artistes in various fields, including music and dance.

Although admissions in government schools have shown a decline, Chandrampalem ZP High School, located 9 km away from the city at Madhurawada, has bucked the trend. It is the only government-run high school with multiple specialties. The credit goes to the 88-strong teaching staff and five-member non-teaching staff of the school.

Madhurawada has many residential colonies and apartments, with majority of the people belonging to middle and lower middle classes. Many parents are now sending their children to this school from various pockets in the city.

The school, established in 1979 over an extent of 5.5 acres, continued till 2010 as just another government school without any special attention. However, after the government decided to make it a ‘model institution’, things started moving fast.
